Escape From The Studio '06

Let's try writing something again.

I've had one of the most boring weeks in my life, which has got to be the reason why I didn't update until now. I didn't spent much time thinking about anything in particular lately, not even when I went to the library the day before yesterday. I tried writing some song lyrics there, but the sheet of paper remained blank. Ah well, those things just pop up when you don't expect it and there's no use in rushing things, so I don't feel bad about it.

The most exciting news this past week was the fact that Metallica announced they will be touring Europe this summer.

FUCK YEAH!

Chances are they'll come to Belgium too, probably Werchter festival. I certainly hope so, can't wait to see those guys again. It's the only band in the world that I can headbang to without being drunk, and headbang twice as fast as anyone within a five meter radius for two hours straight at that. I actually headbanged a fat Dutch guy away from me last time Metallica was in Belgium (Werchter 2004). If you wonder how someone can headbang someone else away, I suggest you join me when Metallica comes to Belgium this year, if they come at all. I hope they won't be headlining the Graspop festival, because that festivals takes place during my exams. I doubt I'll have an exam on Sunday (they are rumoured to close the festival) but I have exams till June 30th and the last day of Graspop is June 25th so the chances are I still have another exam on Monday and the result may not be very satisfying if I spent the previous day hurting my neck in several ways.

I watched their Some Kind Of Monster documentary again today. It's about how their latest album, St. Anger, was created. After watching the documentary I still don't think it's a great album but at least the lyrics make so much more sense now and they make me respect the guys more and more, especially James. The documentary itself is not very good though, so if you're a film fan you should probably avoid it. If you're interested in how the new Metallica (as in post Jason and post James rehab) came to be, you might want to check it out.

Just imagine how Metallica would have been if they would have kept Dave Mustaine and if Cliff Burton was still alive. Kirk Hammett isn't that bad, but he cut down on the guitar solo's since Load and Dave is as good as ever in his own band Megadeth. As for Cliff, he kicks Jason's and Roberto's ass anytime. Anyway, Metallica as they are today are still one of the better heavy metal bands, but they just don't have the same craziness they had in the old days. But then, there are many things today that don't have the same craziness they had in the old days, so I forgive Metallica. After all, they are my favourite band of all time and I can't be mad at them for long. That sounded gay, but if you call me gay during a Metallica concert I will knock you down dead.
